So I went out and bought some bridal mags... sorta helpful.. but also slightly discouraging. Every single dress they put in these magazines costs over $2,000. Oh, wait, sorry, I forgot to mention the under $500 (butts) selection they feature. I mean, could these "cheaper" dresses GET any uglier? Let's think about this here. How much money did you spend on your prom dress? Mine was $150 - and that's a little pricey considering. But my point is that 500 bucks is A LOT of money for a dress. If I had 500 to blow on a prom dress, holy hell! It would have been the ultimate, killer dress. So why does putting the word "wedding" in front of "dress" automatically makes prices go through the effing roof?So I'm browsing these mags. Amazing designer dresses at every turn. Vera Wang. Oscar de la Renta. Angel Sanchez. Monique Lhuillier. All gorgeous . Of course. But you know what all these designers have in common? They're cock-teases. They flaunt their dresses in front of us broke brides as if we were horny teenagers seeing a pair of D cups for the first time.
"Hmmph," she snorts. They KNOW we go weak in the knees for these dresses no matter how hard we try to resist.
But it's not gonna work on this bitch. Ms. Wang will not cock-tease me! So instead of going and trying on the 'dream' dresses, I will simply avoid temptation and just post them here.
I love simple silhouettes with unique details. These are perfect examples of that.
Here's some dreamy Oscar pics...
But here is the ultimate dream dress. Saw this one and was like, "Oh. My. Nuts." Vera, of course.
Sadly, it is HIGHLY doubtful that the Vera will ever be mine. I think it costs over 5 G's. Ha. That's half the wedding budget!
BUT, all is not lost for those brides out there who want a designer dress on a smaller budget. Here's some sites that sell used gowns or sample gowns: Bride Power, Pre-owned Wedding Dress, Once Wed.
I'm going to check out this place that's literally right down the street from my place called The Glamour Closet. They have tons of sample designer gowns for up to 75% off the OG price. I'll give my review on it in a future posting.
