Dude. I Like Won Something.

The fabulous Bridechka (whose blog I absolutely LOVE, so if you haven't read it yet, go here) had a fantastic little giveaway sponsored by the awesome folks at Digital Room a couple weeks back.

The prize: 200 customizable postcards

The winner: Me!!!!!

I was so so excited to learn I had won. We were planning on using postcards for our Save the Dates anyway, so this means there's one less thing to spend money on! Hooray! I checked out Digital Room, and was happy to discover that using their tools to create a postcard is super easy and totally idiot-friendly. All we need to do is find a design, upload it, then write the wording of the invite. Simple as that!

So far, we haven't totally decided on what design we will put on the front. I'm liking the custom illustration thing - finding an artist to draw Mike, me, and our cats riding skateboards through downtown Los Angeles. Yeah. We skate together. It's really cute. So that could be fun. Here are a few custom illustrated designs that I'm diggin:

Aren't those way cute? We may want to save the illustration idea for the actual invites, however... SO, with that in mind, I came up with an alternative idea. I found a picture that is simple, to the point, and very meaningful to me. One of my favorite love songs of all time is, "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)" by The Talking Heads. This picture that I found spells out my favorite part of the lyrics in the song. I think it would look really rad for our Save the Dates. Here it is:

On this backdrop, we would simply write:

mike + britt
get married
07.31.2010
save the D'

Anyway, those are just a few ideas I'm kicking around. Anyone have any creative ideas for a save the date postcard design?
