Jim + Pam's Wedding: I Sobbed Like a Little Bitch.

**SPOILER ALERT** Yeah don't read this if ya haven't seen it yet.

Aaah nuts. I promised myself I wouldn't get emotional, but damn, I really think The Office did the Jim and Pam wedding just right last night. It was so genuinely funny and showcased some of the most cringe-worthy moments in Office history...Michael's speech at the rehearsal dinner...WOW. Mike and I had to look away from the screen it was so uncomfortably hilarious! I'm so glad they didn't skimp on the 'funny' just because it was a wedding episode.

But on to the sobbing part... watching Jim and Pam sneak away from their wedding to go get married alone, on a boat, soaking wet, surrounded by Niagara Falls...I died! Jim and Pam had been through so much together as characters, it was SO SO satisfying to see them have a happy ending - an ending that was SO what their characters would have done (thank you Office writers!). Yes, I realize this is just TV blah blah blah, but there's something about watching two people make a commitment to each other like that - whether they be real or fictional - that makes me get all gushy-mushy and lovey-dovey.

So naturally watching Jim and Pam get married made Mike and I think about our own nuptials. We held hands on the couch as Pam and Jim exchanged rings, thinking to ourselves, "Dude, we get to like, do this next year." Annnnd that's about the time I started crying...finally coming to the realization that I'm a BRIDE and he's my GROOM. And we are finally are going to lock this thing down after 6.5 years of 'dating'. SIX and 1/2 YEARS. Wow. We're not just 'talking' about our future plans to marry. That shiz is happening RIGHT NOW, son! And we couldn't be more excited...

When did it become 'real' for you?

  1. Weddings have turned me into an absolute and utter sap, which my practical, ironic, used-to-be-tomboy self does not understand at all. I haven't even seen the episode yet, but I teared up with your recap. I teared up about the venue. I teared up with the proposals (even though they were both complete "duh" moments.) I teared up when I got my ring back from repairs. And we're STILL 18 months away. WTF.

  2. I totally cried too! I feel like anytime I see a wedding a proposal or something having to do with marriage I cry!

  3. To be totally honest, the Scrubs finale. The scene where JD has a video montage of his and Elliott's lives together. My FH and I just looked at each other, and he said, "That's us. That could be our lives playing out." And then he probably said something about loving me a lot, but I can't be sure because it was a total WOAH moment. :) We've been together for over seven years, and engaged for 2, so it was just kind of like, "Dude, we're not pretending anymore. This is REAL." :) lol
