Update on AAA's Eff Up

Last time you heard from me, I was fuming mad over this mistake AAA made on a piece of mail delivered to me...well, not technically to me... no... it was addressed to some chick with my partner's last name.  This kind of mistake should not be taken lightly. And thankfully, AAA agrees with me.  They sent me an apology.

On Twitter:

AAANews @BowieBride Thx for bringing this to my attention. You're absolutely right -- it's our mistake and we're working to change it.

Hi Brittany. I work for the national office of AAA. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I don't know where the disconnect happened, but we'll have the name corrected. It was not our intent to change your name, and I'm sorry you were offended. Just fyi -- I do feel your pain. I did not change my name when I got married so I do understand your position. Best wishes to you and Mike for a long and happy marriage!

So, my thanks to AAA for the apology and speedy response. I really do hope it was a simple mix up, and not the result of your marketing department assuming a woman living with a man need share his last name.

And if it is the latter, are you working to change that as well?

  1. ah the power of twitter. glad they were so responsive. have you seen dooce's story of using twitter to get one's way when a corporation goes wrong? it's a highly amusing tale. http://www.dooce.com/2009/08/28/containing-capital-letter-or-two

  2. Awesome! Glad they apologized! I don't know how they would have known that you two are to be wed though, so I'm pretty sure it was just a mix up. Although, after living with a guy for a couple years as friends I got mail addressed to Jazmin FriendsName and we both laughed. Apparently friends can't live together without getting married!

PS I left you a blog award on my blog!

  3. (I'm late to this post, way late but...) We bought a house a few years ago, bank assumed the man's name should be first on the mortgage account and what not, even though they never spoke to him and I filled out all the paperwork. All that and I don't get my name on the primary account. Grrrr.. Told them off.
But I get joy in that the hydro, telephone, etc are all in my name so when they call the house they ask for Mr. Bright. HAH!
