My dear, dear friend Marisa (from
yesterday's wedding band post!) is getting married in Vegas. On a pirate ship. In less than two weeks. And I couldn't be more excited to be a part of the experience.
 |
| The "SongShip" is where they will get mARRRRied! |
Marisa and her fiance Steve are a unique duo who totally embrace their silly sides -- so much so that they instructed us to come to their pirate ship ceremony dressed "semiformal but have fun with it," and to "not be afraid to add pirate flair and bring yer sunscreen." You all know
I can't resist an excuse to wear a costume... so I am definitely going to go for the pirate gold on the attire. BUT there's more... I will need a second outfit for the evening reception. The attire "requirements" for the evening reception are as follows: "Make it fun. We highly encourage sequins, glamour, and flair." So bottom line here is that I need two ideas for outfits. And guess what? Y'all are going to help.
Pirate Ship Wedding Ceremony attire... in the literal sense:
 |
| Perhaps a tad too literal... |
Or I could lean more towards the "ship" theme and go as a sailor (I have to admit this may be my fave):
 |
| This with some red heels would be fun. |
OR, I could simply add a few piratey pieces to a "normal" dress:
 |
| This would certainly be fitting... almost TOO fitting... I liiiiike.... |
My wedding reception attire will be solely based on how silly I actually want to get with this... I *know* I am going to wear an 80s prom dress... but the question is: How "80s" do I really want to go?
Too 80s? Or not enough? Here's some more:
Or I could a go *tad* tame (extreme emphasis on "tad") with this updated 80s prom frock from Forever 21:
What would YOU wear to a wedding on a pirate ship?
oooh!!! I love a theme! I LOVE the heart eye patch.. too frickin' cute! I'd go with the 2nd, 3rd.. or gold dress! All with hooker shoes.... this is Vegas, after all!
ReplyDeleteBrit. I love all of those dresses, btw. But I think I like the purple on at the top, and the Forever 21 one! Any vintage/thrift store in LA should do you right. You should see the redneck shiz-nit I'm finding in South Carolina "junk shops." Hachi machi!!
ReplyDeleteOH. MAH. GAW.
ReplyDeleteThat blue sequin ruffle thing is to DIE for. You know my feelings on all things sparkly and 80s and costumed and themed. GIRRRRRRL YOU MUST DO THIS UP BIG AND MAKE MAMA ADDERALL PROUD.
Make sure Mike gets some sequins in there too. Suspenders. Bowtie. Pocket square. SOMETHING.
How funnn!!! I guess it depends on if you want to look "pretty" or "silly."
ReplyDeleteThe purple sequined dress and the black/fuchsia dress are actually pretty cute, I think. I'd even throw the red dress in that category, too. The gold lame (lah-may, not lame lol) dress is...ok, it's hideous. But a GOOD hideous and the right shoes would make it awesome. The green/black dress looks like the dress I wore for Halloween a few years ago (I was a Flavor of Love girl). The blue ruffle...80s to the MAXX. The Forever 21 dress just doesn't cut it, in my opinion. It screams typical Vegas and I'm pretty sure that's not your thing.
Honestly, you can't go wrong. OH! I know! You could wear the red dress AND the red heart eye patch!! And then find Mike something red and sparkly to match. Yessss dooo itttt.
Aaannnddd didn't anticipate that comment turning into a novel. Whoops!
ReplyDeleteHey Girly - I'm sure you know this but there's an awesome 80's room at Jet Rag on La Brea. One stop shopping I must say!
ReplyDeleteThe blue one with the frills!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that eyepatch.
It sounds like it is going to be fun. Loving that red dress and it would work so well with the red eye patch.
ReplyDeleteheart patch for the wedding. And that green and black number...HOT!
ReplyDeletethe heart patch is for sure my style. however it would have sequints. although i will say that i wore one of those bad boys for fun once and had a tough time getting around with just one eye. can you imagine and open bar, an eye patch and a dance floor on a ship?! oh my.
ReplyDeletep.s. i love love love your blog. it is refreshingly hilarious and FUN - what weddings should be.
hot pony sandwiches, i want that sailor dress.
