About

Founder & Writer, Britt Hilgers
I’m Britt!  I was born on Groundhog’s Day! On a living room floor! Cuz my parents are crazy fuckin’ hippies! (Just kidding, Mom and Dad! Almost dying in childbirth was CHILL AS FUUUUUCK!) I grew up in the Shit Stain State, or ‘Arizona’ as some people still call it. But don’t feel sad for me! I got out 7 years back and moved my ass to the LBC! As in the home of Snoop Dogg. As in WAY MORE FUCKING AWESOME THAN THE SHIT STAIN STATE. I lived in the El Bee Sizzle for a couple years. Tried rapping. Left for LA. Whateverrrrrrr.

So I’m kind of a weirdo and here’s WHYYYY: I spent my entire youth and teen years coping with crippling, shit-my-pants anxiety, so I did what any sane person would have done; I became an actor. Feel free to laugh at that. (IF UR AN ASSHOLE.) But for reals. Becoming an actor forced me to unleash my inner weirdness in ways I never thought possible. And it was that courage that laid the foundation for me to always be brave in life and to speak the fuck up when I have something to say. OK that’s bullshit. I’m still scared shitless most of the time and social situations freak me out. But that’s what Xanax is for. And the Internet.

I have a BA in English from Arizona State University (party time school) and a Master’s in Screenwriting from Chapman University (major debt school). I live in in downtown Los Angeles, yeah the cool part, with my teacher husband Mike and our lovercats, Moe & Lola. I’ve worked in TV for the last 5 years. Over the summer, I wrote an episode of television for NBC Universal/USA Network’s hit show PSYCH titled “Juliet Wears The Pantsuit” (Air date: TBD). Before that I wrote “The Hashtag Killer” the Emmy-nominated social TV experience for Psych. In the past  I have been a contributing writer for The Broke-Ass Bride and have contributed freelance articles to Rock n Roll BrideHome MindersWishpot Weddings, and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Wedding Bloggers in 2010 and 2011.  My wedding was featured prominently on Rock n Roll Bride, in Photo Pro Magazine & my DIY bouquets (yes! I craft! holy shit!) were featured in Weddings Magazine UK.  I also won Nationals in high school Speech & Debate. That’s somethin’ to brag about, so there.
