About

Founder & Writer, Britt Hollenbrau
Britt was born at home on her parent’s living room floor in Lake Bluff, IL during the dead of winter. Right now you’re probably guessing that the only possible explanation for a baby having to be born on a floor was because her parents were snowed in. No. That would have been too normal of an explanation for her parents. Britt’s mother actually chose to birth her at home, because she was, as she puts it, “afraid of hospitals”. As for Britt’s opinion? Well, she contends it was due to her mother’s hippie roots, because, let’s get serious; wouldn’t the act of childbirth be made more frightening sans doctors and medical equipment and you know, general sanitation? But maybe that’s just Britt... the baby who was born on the floor. On Groundhog’s Day. A birth date that would forever provoke people to ask her this question year after year: “So did you see your shadow this morning, Britt?” As to which she would forever reply (trying desperately not to grimace), “Clever! SO clever.” But don’t get her wrong; being born on the living room floor on Groundhog’s Day has had its (odd) perks. Britt spent her entire youth and teen years trying not to appear as awkward as she felt inside... so much so that it caused her to cope with her crippling social anxiety and depression by becoming an actor. Feel free to laugh at the irony of that statement. Becoming an actor allowed Britt, (more like forced her) to unleash her trapped creativity in a way she never thought possible. And it was that courage that laid the foundation for Britt to never give up on herself, her talents and her goals solely out of fear. She keeps most of her creativity on the page these days, but without this unlikely coping mechanism of playing someone else on stage as a young adult, she would have never been brave enough to do even that. So in short, she’d like to thank her parents for being the kind of weirdos that would birth their first child on an 80s shag carpet, as it has played a large part in shaping their daughter’s wants and worldview.

Britt holds a BA in English from Arizona State University and a Master's in Screenwriting from Chapman University.  Britt works on the TV show Psych and resides in Los Angeles, CA with her Teacher husband Mike and their two rub-whores cats named Moe & Lola.
