I Got to Be a Bride!

Well. Kind of. I got to play the part of a bride on Halloween night. And I went BALLZ out. I had the big hair, the huge veil, the big poofy tulle dress, the bouquet, and even the long gloves! So what if I was playing the part of Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice and the dress was red and I wore hardcore black combat boots and pale white make-up with it. I was a bride dammit. And it was FUN.

Halloween night was extra special because we officially hit the "9 months til we're hitched" mark. It's an exciting feeling, knowing that he and I will be husband and wife not too long from now. We definitely reminded each other of this fact throughout the night, further making our already festive Halloween that much more awesome.

And it was kind of silly, but the first time I walked out in my Lydia bride costume, Mike looked at me lovingly and said, "I can't wait to marry you." Maybe it was the bouquet and the veil, and the fact that we were both at least three glasses of champagne deep at that point, but it was a lovely little moment. Hopefully one of many lovely little moments to occur as we plan this crazy wedding over the next 9 months.

9 months. Whoa.

Last night, after the Halloween excitement had died down, that number started to sink in. We're approaching the, "Holy ballz we need to get rollin' on our Save the Date cards, our guest list needs to be finalized, we have to sign a contract with the caterer, sign the contracts for the room block, sign the contract with our photog, and get all the addresses from our guests" mark. We got engaged december 1, 2008, so the fact that all this is FINALLY happening, is thankfully proving to be more exciting than overwhelming at this point. I'm sure it's gonna get crazy here real fast, but I'm thinking positively. We've got a lot of peeps in our corner, so I know we'll get everything done on time. Which remiunds me, I have to go email my Mom and Mike's mom to ask for their help in retrieving addresses from the relatives.

Tata for now!

Creative Wedding Themed Halloween Costumes!

Tis the season for witchery! Man I love Halloween. It's the only holiday that doesn't take itself seriously. I've experienced one too many Thanksgivings gone wrong, thanks to a few belligerently intoxicated relatives arriving to dinner on tandems bikes (don't ask)... but NEVER have I once experienced a bad Halloween. It's the one night you get to dress as a jackass, eat an assload of candy, be someone else, get wasted and not apologize for any it.

Since I've had wedding on the brain every single day since I started this blog in July, I can't help but want to have a wedding themed costume. No, not the obvious white dress and veil combo, I'm talking about some creative movie character shiz. I'll reveal the costume I chose at the end of the list. Here are my wedding costume suggestions:

1. Princess Vespa, from Spaceballs
What you need: 80's ballgown wedding dress with poofy sleeves, leia buns with white lace covering them, and a long veil. And if you're really lucky, you could get someone to dress as Prince Lonestar, Yogurt, Lord Helmet, Pizza the Hut, Dot or my personal favorite, Barf.

2. The Runaway Bride
From the movie, yes. Just wear a used wedding gown and tennis shoes. (Ok that one's not too crazy creative but whatever. It's easy)

3. The Bride with the Neon Beating Heart from Haunted Mansion Ride at Disneyland
Man that was a mouthful (that's what she said). But kinda clever, no? The costume idea, not my foul humor.
What you need: Old-timey white dress, neon glow sticks to put under the dress by your heart. A veil and ghoulish make-up

4. Carrie Bradshaw (Scary Carrie)
A different sort of take on the iconic bridal look from Sex and the City.
What you need: A big ass teal feather on your enormous updo, super pale face make-up, and a poofy wedding dress with triple-sized, 80s houndog boob cups.

5. Trashy Reno Newlyweds
Mike and I did this one year. Total blast. I wore a white 80s fringe ensemble with a trashy pearl and tulle headpiece. Mike wore a woman's blazer and a cowboy hat. Beer bong: NOT optional.

That's us...

6. Corpse Bride
What you need: Blue/Black wig, Gothic style wedding dress, pale make-up. I have a feeling this one will be popular this year...

7. The Bride from Kill Bill
What you need: The classic yellow motorcycle suit and Samurai sword. OR go for the white dress and pregnancy belly from the wedding rehearsal scene. And if you're feeling extra morbid, you can be the bride, POST getting shot in the head by Bill.

8. Madonna, Like a Virgin
What you need: Super 80s lace tattered lingerie bustier wedding gown. White fingerless gloves, black boots, a messy veil, 80s bangle jewelry, and Boy Toy Belt buckle.

9. Gwen Stefani
What you need: Buy a used wedding gown and dye half of it pink and wear a platinum blond wig.

And for the 10th and final Idea, I present to you MY WEDDING THEMED COSTUME!

10. Lydia Deetz, from Beetlejuice
I had been racking my brain for hours trying to come up with something fun. Can you tell I take Halloween seriously? I got my costume the other day and am STOKED. Since I'm not wearing a big dress and a veil for my actual wedding, this will be fun.
What you need: Red lace, tulle dress, red veil, red flower bouquet, black wig, and pale make-up.

Any more ideas to add to the list? What are you dressing up as for Halloween, wedding related or not?
